Two (2) Japanese nationals suspected to be yakuza members terrorizing the owner and customers of a restaurant was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Malate Manila .
NBI Director Nestor M. Mantaring identified the suspects as TORO FUJITA and TOMOHIRO FUJIWARA, Japanese nationals and presently residing at Unit 945 Park Avenue Mansion, Park Ave., Pasay City.
A report submitted by Atty. Edward A. Villarta NBI- NCR Directoer revealed that on July 15, 2008, a call was received from a Bureau agent about an alleged harassment case being committed by two Japanese nationals inside a restaurant in Malate, Manila. A team was dispatched and upon arrival, the restaurant owner pointed to suspects Fujita and Fujiwara as the two harassing her and the customers.
The NBI agents approached the suspects and frisked them, Fujita was found an Astra 9 mm pistol in his waist , and Jenning caliber .22 pistol in his ankle. On the other hand, Fujiwara was found in possession of a Smith and Wesson 38 caliber revolver. The bag of Fujita yielded a long barrel .38 SW revolver. They failed to show any license or permit to possess said guns. Hence, they were arrested and brought to the NBI.
While under investigation, a credit card in the name of Masayoshi Nakayama was also recovered from Fujita, together with machine copies of passports and calling card under the name Masayoshi Nakayama but with pictures of Fujita and Fujiwara.
The duo was presented before the Inquest Prosecutor of Manila on July 16, 2008 for Violation of PD 1866, as amended by R.A 8294 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition), Violation of R.A 8484 otherwise known as the Access Device Regulation Act of 1998, and Violation of Art. 172 of the RPC (Falsification by Private Individuals and Use of Falsified Documents.
A follow up investigation is still underway as several dubious documents were also recovered in possession of Toru Fujita and Tomohiro Fujiwara.
