The NBI clearance finally has a permanent home, following the blessing of a four storey building in simple rites at the NBI main office compound today.

Justice Secretary Leila M. de Lima was the guest of honor and cut the ceremonial ribbon assisted by NBI Director Magtanggol B. Gatdula and other NBI officials.

The building houses a holding area for the clearance applicants and has a far better ventilation and the seats for queuing applicants. Construction began at the time of former NBI Director, Atty. Nestor M. Mantaring, and completed under the present administration of Director, Atty. Magtanggol B. Gatdula.

In July 4, 2011, the NBI implemented the new Biometric clearance system which shorten the steps in securing an NBI clearance. An outstanding feature is the biometric reader used in taking fingerprints, thus doing away with the usual smudgy ink before.

The process of application starts with a) filling up of form; b) data check; c) payment; d) encoding; and e) biometrics (fingerprints and photo).

Aside from securing NBI clearances at the main facility, one can also apply at any of the five (5) Robinson's mall branches in Ermita, Manila, Otis in Paco; Galleria in Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City; Metro East Pasig and in Cainta, Rizal. It has also clearance satellites in Ever Gotesco Monumento, Caloocan City; Grand Central, Caloocan City; Manila Plaza in C. M. Recto Avenue; and Ever Gotesco in Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.

Likewise, clearance satellites in Quezon City Hall; Mandaluyong City Hall; and Muntinlupa City Hall can service the public. Fifteen (15) other satellite offices can serve the public in fifteen (15) provinces nationwide.
