A policeman who kidnapped a female medical representative and demanded money in exchange for her release was arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Davao City over the week-end. The subject is identified as Police Officer 1 Rm MAUKAEL OLIVER DICAY y ENANO, assigned at the Regional Public Safety Battalion, Region XI. Investigation bared that at noontime of June 27, 2012, victim Vanessa Motus, a medical representative of Pharma Nutria N.A. Davao City was abducted by an unidentified armed man as she was about to board her car parked near the Davao Doctors Hospital. Later, the abductor demanded from her employer the amount of P70,000 in exchange for her liberty. Employees of the said pharmaceutical firm immediately sought NBI assistance. Upon receipt of the report, the kidnapper's communication concerning the demand for ransom was monitored and controlled by the NBI. It was arranged that the kidnapper's demand ransom be coursed through an MLuillier money transfer branch and that the victim be the one to collect. At 4:00 PM also of the same day, the kidnapper and the victim were seen walking towards MLuiller Matina to collect the ransom. NBI operatives closely trailed them. Upon sensing the opportunity, NBI operatives moved in, subduing and arrested him, while the victim was rescued. Few hours after his arrest, another victim, Rowena Isidro, came to the NBI and pointed to suspect Dicay as the one who also kidnapped her last June 25, 2012 and demanded money and jewelry for her liberty. Two cases of Kidnapping for Ransom were filed against the suspect before the Davao City Prosecutor's Office. |
