A construction worker allegedly responsible for the rape slay of a 25-year-old woman was arrested by the agents of the National Bureau Investigation (NBI) in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Pasig City during the weekend. The suspect was identified by NBI Officer-In-Charge Atty. Nonnatus Caesar R. Rojas as ALFREDO MICARES Y ATUD, 35, construction worker and a resident of Teresa Compound, Pilar Village, Rosario, Pasig City. The victim was Anna Ysabel Santos y Cordova, 25, single, and a resident of No. 27 Pearl Compound, Dona Juana, Subdivision, Rosario, Pasig City. Investigation conducted by the ODDSIS represented by the Death Investigation Division (DID) headed by Atty. Romulo Asis, ODDIS headed by Atty. Ruel M. Lasala and NCR under Regional Director Jorge Jularbal disclosed that in the afternoon of March 21, 2012, Kristine Camille Santos, victim's sister saw Anna's car in front of the residence and thought that she was already in her room. At 5:30 pm that day, Kristine received a call from one Kristin Tanyag requesting the whereabouts of Anna who allegedly missed her flight to Boracay at noon of that day. Kristin rushed to Anna's room and found in the pool of her blood lying a top her bed. Kristin called the police as well as barangay authorities. The PNP-Pasig proceeded to the crime scene to investigate. An NBI team also conducted a reprocessing of the crime scene, lifted fingerprints and blood samples. On April 18, 2012, Mark Santos, victim's cousin and contractor of the renovation of the victim's house together with three (3) construction workers namely: ALFREDO MICARES Y ATUD, MANNY SARMIENTO Y SERNA and DANILO BOLADO Y MONTECILLO went to the NBI office and submitted their blood samples for investigation. That same evening, a reenactment was made by a joint team of NBI and PNP probers together with Micares. During the process, security guard GENIE ALABERAN HERNAEZ approached the team and positively identified ALFREDO MICARES as the same person who requested entry at 11:00 pm of March 21, 2012. Thereafter, Micares readily admitted the crime and was brought back to the NBI main office. Found near the sink of the dirty kitchen is a kitchen knife which when submitted for forensic examination yielded positive for blood samples of victim, ANNA YSABEL SANTOS. On April 19, 2012 suspect MICARES executed an extra judicial confession assisted by his lawyers and admitted the crime. He recounted that, on the midnight of March 22, 2012, he was heavily drunk and went to Doña Juana Subdivision. He was refused entry by the guard at Gate 3 but he managed to sneak in through the gate's small hole and proceeded to the victim's house. Using an improvised tool, he made his way to victim ANNA's room and found her asleep. He took her personal belongings such as (IPAD 2, BLACKBERRY CP, ITOUCH, SONY VAIO, DIGICAM with an estimated amount of Php 130,000.00). Victim was roused from sleep and gave a fight with her knife hidden underneath the bed, but was overpowered during the scuffle, Anna was stabbed several times by Micares which caused her death. She was also raped by Micares. After placing the valuables inside a paper bag, he sneaked out of the house and passed through Gate 2 and went home to his residence in Las Piñas. Charges with robbery with homicide and rape were forwarded for inquest to the City Prosecutor of Pasig City on April 23, 2012 and docketed as XV-14-INQ-12D. |
