Seizure of assorted Illegal Timber in Zamboanga City

            On 24 July 2012, NBI-Region IX Operatives, augmented by members of the PNP and DENR, served the Search Warrants against Subject ELSIE SAAVEDRA of Ever World Trading Corp., Camino Nuevo, Zamboanga City for Violation of Section 77 of PD 705 (Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines, as amended).

          The team was able to seized from the warehouse a 43,130.20 board feet of assorted illegal timber, of which, 10,152 processing plant board feet are Narra flitches.  The estimated aggregate value of the confiscated items is pegged at P1,143,219.20.  The seized illegal timbers were now in the custody of the DENR.  The three caretakers of the warehouse were arrested and now subject for inquest proceedings.
