INTERCEPTION OF THE ILLEGAL TRADE OF
ENDANGERED SPECIES IN PALAWAN

          At about 3:00 in the afternoon of January 8, 2012, a combined team of NBI & Personnel from the Special Operations Group of Puerto Princesa City Hall intercepted several kilos of Anteater meat/skin with scales & edible birds’ nests from Chinese national YIFAN HUANG.  These contraband items which were destined to different restaurants in Metro manila are classified as ‘Endangered’ & ‘Threatened’ by Palawan Council for Sustainable Development.  Consequently, Subject YIFAN HUANG was charged before the City Prosecutor’s Office for violating the provisions of the Wildlife Resources Conservation & Protection Act (RA 9147).
