JHONAR SALES, Et. Al, of Paragus Club for Qualified Trafficking in Persons (RA 9208)
On July 7, 2012, Regional Prosecutor of Tuguegarao City Prosecution Office, sought the assistance of the NBI-Region II office for the immediate rescue of one (1) 20 years old female victim, a native of Barangay Mantuyong, Mandaue City who was allegedly recruited to work in Manila but instead brought to PARAGUS CLUB located at Macapagal Avenue, Brgy. Tanza, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
On the evening of July 7, 2012, a joint NBI-Region II Operatives and Regional Inter-Agency Council against Trafficking (RIACAT) raided the said establishment rescued the victim and fifteen (15) other female workers.
Consequently, JHONAR SALES y LABAYOG, BRYAN CABAHUG y TORIBIO, who introduced themselves as caretakers of the club, LIGAYA AGULLANA y BALUYOT and ALICIA PARDILLO y CELETONA, who as well introduced themselves as alleged floor managers, respectively, were placed under arrest for alleged violation of RA 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003). Subjects were apprised of their rights under the constitution and were subsequently brought to the NBI Region II office for booking.On July 8, 2012, Subjects were charged on INQUEST before the Tuguegarao City Prosecution Office for alleged Violation of RA 9208 (Qualified Trafficking in Persons). No bail was recommended.
